About

Blume des Kampfes is a bilingual blog featuring thoughts and class notes on historical fencing. Its main focus is the interpretation and teaching of 14th century Italian fencing master Fiore dei Liberi’s Fior di Battaglia (“Flower of Battle” – which serves as inspiration for the blog’s name).

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.
